Pazzini joins Sampdoria

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Giampaolo Pazzini has officially joined Sampdoria from Fiorentina in a deal which is believed to be worth an eventual €8million.

The 24-year-old striker moved to the Blucerchiati in a deal which sees Emiliano Bonazzoli move on loan until the end of the season to the Florence outfit.

Fiorentina will also have the opportunity to sign Bonazzoli on a permanent contract at the end of the season if they are sufficiently impressed.

The former Azzurrini was a regular at Fiorentina last season, but the summer arrival of Alberto Gilardino limited his opportunities, making just three starts for the Viola this campaign.

Pazzini scored nine times last season in 31 outings, which was his most convincing total since arriving from Atalanta in January 2005.

News of Pazzini's move could come as a blow to Premier League club Everton, who were rumoured to be eyeing the hitman as a solution to their shortage of strikers.
