Pizarro hoping to stay in Bremen

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Claudio Pizarro admits he has no plans to return to Chelsea and would like to convert his loan move at Werder Bremen into a permanent basis.

The 30-year-old played for Bremen between 1999 and 2001 before leaving for Bayern Munich and then Chelsea, with whom he is under contract until 2011.

The Peru international rejoined the Bundesliga side on loan last summer and has no desire of going back to London.

"Yes, it is true," he told Kicker Sportmagazin. "I am interested in staying at Bremen for longer."

That commitment has come as welcome news to Bremen director of sport Klaus Allofs, who is also keen for an agreement to be reached with Chelsea.

"Claudio has told us that he wants to stay," he said.

"We have to be patient but we would also like to keep Claudio here.

"We have to find out whether Chelsea are willing to do business, so it is too early to make final decisions at the moment."

With Pizarro having fallen well down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are likely to be willing to discuss business.
