Cristiano Doni scored a brace and set up the third in an emphatic 3-1 victory over Inter Milan to ensure Atalanta their first win over La Beneamata in almost 15 years.

Atalanta totally dominated the leaders and reigning champions in the first 45 minutes as Inter were struggling to get out of their own half.

The home side opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Doni headed a long free-kick from Michele Marcolini back across goal to Sergio Floccari who turned Iván Córdoba and scored with a left-foot finish.

Atalanta extended their lead 10 minutes later as Doni's free-kick curled off Zlatan Ibrahimović's arm in the Inter wall to wrong-foot goalkeeper Júlio César.

And Doni added a third on 33 minutes when he rose between Córdoba and Nicolás Burdisso seven yards out to head home Jaime Valdés' cross.

José Mourinho introduced Luís Figo and Adriano at the start of the second half but Atalanta still looked dangerous at the other end, though, and substitute Diego De Ascentis hit the inside of the post as he followed in after Júlio César fumbled Adriano Ferreira Pinto's angled shot.

Ibrahimović finally poked home from a yard out in stoppage time to net a consolation for Inter.

Juventus failed to take full advantage of Serie A leaders Inter Milan's defeat after being held to a 1-1 draw at Lazio.

Cristian Ledesma gave Lazio the lead on 25 minutes when his curled free-kick was misjudged by goalkeeper Alex Manninger, who came off his line, allowing Ledesma's free-kick to hit the top right-hand corner of the net.

The Biancoceleste should have doubled their lead a minute later when Manninger parried away Tommaso Rocchi's powerful strike only as far as Goran Pandev, who fired high over the bar from close range.

It proved a costly mistake as Juve equalised four minutes later when former Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg headed home a corner kick beyond goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo.

Juve were unlucky not to claim all three points as Nicola Legrottaglie's right-footed strike beat Carrizo but struck the post with four minutes remaining.
