Kaká to miss Milan Derby

Monday, February 9, 2009

AC Milan suffered a blow ahead of next weekend's derby against Inter Milan after scans revealed Kaká's foot injury will require a recuperation period of around two weeks.

The Brazilian limped off in evident pain during Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Reggina and was taken to hospital for X-Rays.

There were fears he had fractured a bone in his left foot, but the official Milan website confirmed the news was nowhere near as serious.

However, although it is not a long-term problem, it could still rule him out of the derby.

"AC Milan communicates that Kaká underwent medical tests today which confirmed a sprain to his left foot, ruling out a more serious injury," read a note on the club website.

"The prognosis is that he will be out for at least a fortnight."

As well as next weekend's derby, Kaká will miss Brazil's friendly international against Italy on Tuesday, and may still be unavailable for the match against Cagliari on February 22.
