Leverkusen snap up Toni Kroos on loan deal

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Bayern Munich starlet Toni Kroos has joined Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen on a-year-and-a-half loan deal.

The 19-year-old midfielder is considered one of Germany's biggest talents but has struggled to break into the Bayern star-studded team this season.

Kroos has been limited to just seven appearances this season for Bayern, starting only two matches and making five other appearances off the bench.

The deal will be completed on Monday, when Kroos will sign a contract with Leverkusen, according to the Bavarian club's website.

The youngster will return to Bayern in 2010 for the remaining year of his contract.

Bayern struck a similar deal with Stuttgart several years ago when they allowed Philipp Lahm to join Die Schwaben on a two-year loan.
