Robinho rues Scolari sacking

Monday, February 16, 2009

Manchester City forward Robinho believes Chelsea were wrong to sack his former Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Scolari was axed on Monday after the Stamford Bridge hierarchy lost faith in the World Cup winner being able to deliver success.

Scolari always pointed to Chelsea's failure to land Robinho as one of the main reasons for the club's struggles under his leadership.

And the man who got away insists his fellow Brazilian deserved more time at Stamford Bridge.

Robinho told The People: "I know him very well and he talks a lot with the players. I don't understand why some Chelsea players did not accept him.

"I did not expect the sacking of Scolari but so many unexpected things happen in English football.

"He is a great coach and he showed that with Brazil and Portugal. They have not given him the necessary time at Chelsea.

"It is another club and I should not get too involved, but I think they have got it wrong."
