Liverpool boss Rafa Benítez and captain Steven Gerrard have been named as the Premier League Manager and Player of the Month for March.
The Reds enjoyed an outstanding month as they battled back into the Premier League title race.
Liverpool started March with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland before rounding off the month with emphatic wins over champions Manchester United and Aston Villa.
Gerrard was at his inspirational best over the course of the month, setting up David Ngog’s opener against Sunderland, before scoring in the 4-1 victory over United at Old Trafford. He completed the month by firing a hat-trick in the 5-0 thrashing of Aston Villa at Anfield.
The England midfielder has now become the first player to win the Player of the Month award for the fifth time.
Meanwhile, Benítez joins only seven other managers to have won the Manager of the Month award on five or more occasions, and is the only manager to have picked up the honour twice this season, having also won the award in October 2008.
