Cristiano Ronaldo couldn't afford Oasis gig - Noel Gallagher

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Real Madrid may be paying Cristiano Ronaldo millions, but Oasis singer Noel Gallagher doubts the star could afford the band for a private gig in the Spanish capital.

Ronaldo, who this summer signed for Los Merengues in a staggering £80 million deal, recently explained that Oasis are his favourite, rating the Mancunian band more highly than the legendary Beatles.

He said in The Sun: "Liverpool have The Beatles and Manchester have Oasis. I think we (Manchester) have the better band.

"I didn't even know who they were when I first arrived in Manchester, but I think Oasis are one of my favourite bands now."

The former Manchester United star also suggested he would love to invite the Gallaghers to see Real take on rivals Barcelona at the Bernabéu as his guests.

"I know they are touring at the moment but I have not been able to catch them.

"Perhaps I could invite them to a Madrid v Barcelona match and they could put on a little private concert in Madrid?"

That went down well with Noel, but Ronaldo's suggestion that Oasis could perform a private gig at his expense received a different reaction.

Noel, a fan of Manchester City, told The Sun: "There's only one Ronaldo! I always knew deep down inside him somewhere there was impeccable musical taste.

"I'll be taking up his offer of tickets for the Madrid versus Barcelona game. I'm not sure whether even he could afford us for a gig though!"
