Franck Ribéry: I was misquoted

Monday, July 6, 2009

In-demand Bayern Munich star Franck Ribéry has denied saying he wants to leave the club for Real Madrid.

Reports in France last week quoted Ribéry as saying: "I want to leave. It is Real or nothing."

His words sent shockwaves through the Bundesliga giants, who are determined to keep their prize asset.

However, Ribéry has moved quickly to ease tensions at the club by insisting he will not rock the boat at the Allianz Arena.

He told Munich's Tz newspaper: "I have never said that I wanted to go.

"That was not my words, my statements were misinterpreted.

"I do not want to be in disagreement with Bayern Munich. I would really like to resolve things.

"We do have to wait if there is an offer coming and then sit down and talk. But now I will say nothing."

The 26-year-old also denied suggestions that he had faked an injury during one of the squad’s first pre-season training sessions as a show of discontent towards the club for denying him a dream move to the Bernabéu.

He added: "That is a lie. I have really pain, my heel is inflamed, I have a blister.

"I want to be back in training as quickly as possible.

"My mentality is always to give my best."
