Serie A: Siena 1-2 AC Milan

Sunday, August 23, 2009

Alexandre Pato scored twice to lead AC Milan to a 2-1 victory over Siena and give new coach Leonardo a winning start to the Serie A season.

Milan took the lead on 29 minutes when Pato sprung the offside trap on Ronaldinho's well-timed ball and kept his cool to pick his spot for an angled drive into the far corner.

Siena equalised against the run of play in the 34th minute with Abdelkader Ghezzal pouncing at the far post to hit a shot into the roof of the net after Marco Storari could only parry Lukáš Jarolim's angled shot.

But Pato restored Milan's lead three minutes into the second half as Ronaldinho picked out Mathieu Flamini in the area, whose low cross provided Pato with an easy tap-in from underneath the crossbar.
