Valencia got their season off to a winning start as they overcame 10-man Sevilla 2-0 at the Mestalla.
Sevilla striker Frédéric Kanouté was handed a second yellow card on 45 minutes before Juan Mata netted for Los Che two minutes after the re-start.
Pablo Hernández made the points safe ten minutes from time with a looping volley.
