La Liga: Real Madrid 4-2 Real Valladolid

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Raúl celebrated breaking Real Madrid's all-time appearance record with two goals as his side beat Real Valladolid 4-2 at the Bernabéu.

Real skipper Raúl, who overtook the record of Manolo Sanchís with his 711th appearance for Los Merengues, put the home side in control with two goals in five minutes in the first half.

Valladolid struck back through Nauzet Alemán in the 29th, before Marcelo restored Real's two-goal cushion right on the stroke of half-time with a brilliant solo effort.

Marcos García reduced the arrears for Valldolid on 53 minutes with a clinical finish, but Gonzalo Higuaín came off the bench to ensure the three points with a precise lob in the 79th minute.
