Serie A: Sampdoria 4-1 Bologna

Sunday, October 25, 2009

High-flying Sampdoria maintained their challenge at the top of Serie A with a resounding 4-1 win over struggling 10-man Bologna.

The game was effectively over just 26 minutes in with the home side racing into a 3-0 lead at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Giampaolo Pazzini opened the scoring on seven minutes with further goals from Daniele Mannini and Reto Ziegler leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb.

That task became even greater soon after when Marco Di Vaio was sent off for dissent on a miserable night for Bologna.

Mannini added his second of the game on 32 minutes before Pablo Osvaldo grabbed a consolation for Bologna just seconds after entering the field as a substitute.
