Sampdoria missed the chance to draw level on points with leaders Inter Milan at the top of the Serie A after a 1-1 draw with Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
Giampaolo Pazzini gave Sampdoria the lead in the 40th minute, but the lead proved short-lived with Francelino Matuzalém drawing Lazio level two minutes later.
Both sides ended the game with ten men after Marco Padalino was sent off for Sampdoria and Roberto Baronio saw red for Lazio.
