Liverpool suffered their fourth Premier League defeat after losing 1-0 to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
The only goal of the game arrived just five minutes in as Darren Bent's far-post shot deflected off a beach ball in front of Pepe Reina, confusing the Spaniard, who dived the wrong way as the ball flew into the net.
The Reds were fuming and protested about the incident but the strike stood.
