Valencia strengthened their hold on third position in La Liga after registering a comfortable 3-1 win at rock-bottom Xerez at the Chapin Stadium.
Juanma Mata put Valencia ahead after 11 minutes before Carlos Calvo equalized for Xerez in the 25th minute from a counterattack.
The visitors regained the lead eight minutes later through David Silva and a fine solo effort from Carlos Marchena in the 69th minute sealed the win.
