Champions League: Arsenal 2-2 Barcelona

Thursday, April 1, 2010

Arsenal fought back from two goals down to salvage 2-2 draw against Barcelona in a breathtaking Champions League quarter-final encounter at the Emirates Stadium.

Barcelona dominated the match for long periods and carved out a 2-0 lead thanks to Zlatan Ibrahimović's double early in the second half.

But the introduction of Theo Walcott as a substitute helped to change the game, with the winger reducing Arsenal's arrears within minutes of coming on.

Then, six minutes from time, Walcott's cross was headed down by Nicklas Bendtner and Cesc Fàbregas went over in the box under pressure from Carles Puyol.

The referee pointed to the spot, red-carded Puyol and Fàbregas converted the penalty to give the Gunners a fighting chance of making the last four.
