AS Roma trailed leaders Inter Milan by two points heading into the final week of the campaign after a 2-1 victory over Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico.
Andrea Lazzari appeared to have ended Roma's championship hopes when he fired in a low free kick on 73 minutes, but Francesco Totti linked up with Daniele De Rossi to equalise six minutes later.
Totti then grabbed the winner for Roma in the 83rd minute as he drilled home from the penalty spot after Davide Biondini used his hand to deflect John Arne Riise's shot.
