Goals from second-half substitutes Mario Balotelli and James Milner fired Manchester City to a 2-0 victory over Everton at the Etihad Stadium.
Balotelli was brought on after an hour of a turgid clash with Everton and made an immediate impact by finding the net with the aid of a slight deflection in the 68th minute.
Fellow substitute Milner then secured the win, racing onto David Silva's through ball before keeping his nerve to beat Tim Howard in the closing moments.
