Premier League: Chelsea 3-5 Arsenal

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Arsenal twice went a goal down at Chelsea but roared back after half-time to seal a 5-3 victory after a pulsating encounter.

Chelsea broke the deadlock on 14 minutes when Frank Lampard stooped to meet a Juan Mata cross, but the Gunners restored parity in the 36th minute through Robin van Persie following great work by Aaron Ramsey and Gervinho.

John Terry had looked like ending a bad week on a high after putting Chelsea 2-1 ahead at half-time, but the game was turned on its head after the break as goals from André Santos and Theo Walcott put the visitors in front for the first time.

Mata's stunning strike made it 3-3 with ten minutes remaining but Terry's slip five minutes later allowed van Persie to put Arsenal 4-3 up and the Dutchman completed his treble following a fast counter-attack in stoppage time.
