Gonzalo Higuaín scored his third hat-trick in 14 days to help Real Madrid to a comfortable 4-1 home win over promoted Real Betis.
Higuaín opened the scoring in the 46th minute before Kaká extended the lead on 59 minutes with a trademark curling right-footed strike around the goalkeeper into the far side of the net.
Betis pulled a goal back through Jorge Molina ten minutes later, but Higuaín finished off a pair of assists from Ángel di María to ensure there would be no comeback.
