Chelsea's hopes of securing a top-four finish suffered a setback after slumping to a 2-0 defeat at Everton.
The hosts started in positive fashion and went ahead after five minutes when Steven Pienaar, making his second home debut, smashed the ball home from close range.
Chelsea were frustrated in their attempts to get back into the game and their hopes were finally extinguished when Denis Stracqualursi's first Premier League goal settled the game in the 71st minute.
