Pazzini opened the scoring with 25 minutes to go when his shot take a huge deflection off Mikael Antonsson to loop over the helpless Federico Agliardi.

There was a touch of fortune about his opener, but his second goal was borne of fantastic individual skill and a predatory instinct in front of goal.

After bringing down Kevin-Prince Boateng's cross, Pazzini flipped the ball over his marker head with his back to the goal and smashed the ball past Agliardi and into the net.

Philippe Mexès scored a late own goal to set up a tense finish in Milan, but the hosts held on to take the share of the spoils.

"I'm happy because my performance was decisive. I hope I can continue to score big goals and help the team towards important objectives," Pazzini told the club's website.

"We had a good first half but we didn't score. The second goal was better than the first but the first allowed us to open the game up.

"It's important for me to do well for Milan because the club believed in me and if I can repay that by scoring then that's great."
