With Reading already relegated and City's Champions League place assured, the match had a distinct end-of-season feel about it.

Despite a man of the match performance from Reading goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, the managerless men from Manchester finally broke the deadlock five minutes before the interval.

An exquisite short corner routine involving Gareth Barry, David Silva and James Milner saw the ball played across for Agüero in the center of the Reading box.

The Argentine didn't even take a touch to bring the ball out of his feet, angling the ball across McCarthy and low into the bottom corner.

Devastating one-touch football, with precision passing, movement and a clinical finish to match.

Any hopes of a home fightback were extinguished in the 88th minute as substitute Edin Džeko latched onto an exquisite pass from Silva and coolly slotted the ball past a despairing McCarthy.
