The game descended into chaos in the 64th minute when Gaz Metan striker Tha'er Bawab took a ridiculously long time to get up off the pitch after going down with an unknown injury.

Petrolul felt he was faking to waste time, so one of their players charged over and yanked Bawab up by his leg.

During the resulting scuffle, Petrolul goalkeeper Mircea Bornescu got involved, at first restraining Bawab, then sinking his teeth into the striker's arm.

Bornescu was then punched in the face before the referee showed him a straight red card.

The 33-year-old was the third player to be sent off by that stage of the game. An incredible total of seven red cards and 13 yellows were handed out by referee Sebastian Colțescu that night.

As a result of these disturbances, the official played a staggering 15 minutes of injury time which allowed Petrolul equalize from the spot-kick in the 114th minute.
