There was a crazy scene in the Jupiler League on Sunday as Standard Liège midfielder Mehdi Carcela-González was sent off against Oud-Heverlee Leuven for an absolutely brain-dead assault.
Carcela-González was caught by a dreadful tackle from Bjorn Ruytinx for which he was shown a yellow card.
The Morocco international then struggled to his feet before suddenly landing a heavy right punch square in Ruytinx's jaw right in front of the referee.
Ruytinx promptly dropped to the floor, while Carcela-González was shown an instant red card before being carried down the tunnel after struggling to put weight on his injured ankle.
