Superb Free-Kick! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Dortmund) vs Mainz | inside World Soccer

A terrific Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang free-kick helped Borussia Dortmund to a 3-1 victory against Mainz 05 in front of a capacity crowd of 34,000 at Coface-Arena.

Mainz produced a courageous display and created many chances on Saturday but lacked the clinical touch in front of goal.

Dortmund turned the game on its head when Aubameyang put the visitors in front with a superb free-kick in the 70th minute.

Erik Durm surged towards the box before being brought down just outside the area, and Aubameyang stepped up to curl the resulting free-kick over the wall into the top left corner.

Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting equalised with a penalty four minutes later before Robert Lewandowski netted twice from the spot to secure victory for the visitors.

"I put in extra shifts after almost every training session to work on free-kicks with Marco Reus," said Aubameyang after the game.

"In the cup game in Munich I was given the chance to take a free-kick for the first time, but was denied by the cross-bar. Today it worked out perfectly and of course I'm very happy about it."
