Argentina coach Diego Maradona has declared his happiness at becoming a grandfather, saying the birth of his first grandson is "the greatest happiness you can have."

Benjamín Agüero Maradona was born on February 19 at the clinic Montepríncipe Madrid to one of Maradona's daughters, Giannina, and Atlético Madrid star Sergio Agüero.

"It is the greatest happiness you can have," Maradona told a press conference shortly after returning to Buenos Aires from Madrid.

"I thought that saying 'I'm a grandfather' would make me old but when I saw Benja, I was overcome with a burst of youthfulness."

Asked who the newborn took after he quipped: "Benja is 60 percent Maradona and 40 percent Agüero."

Maradona, who revealed that he was not present for the birth itself because he was "very nervous", confirmed that Benjamín has been registered as member in Independiente, Boca Juniors and Atlético, but refused to enter the controversy over which team his grandson will root for

"Let him choose what he wants, it does not depend on who sends the first card or the first card, as first he is Argentinian," he mused.
