Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri has lashed out at David Trezeguet following the striker's complaint about being substituted during the Champions League match against Chelsea on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old expressed his disappointment in an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe on Thursday.

Trezeguet criticised Ranieri's tactics and has earned the scorn of his tactician.

"I feel betrayed by Trezeguet," Ranieri told Sky Italia.

"What he said annoyed me a lot and he seems like a spoilt child. He has let me down as a man, rather than a player.

"We have always kept this kind of thing within the dressing room, but that seems to have changed now.

"After (Giorgio) Chiellini’s dismissal we weren’t playing with 10 men, we were playing with nine. Trezeguet wasn’t really playing any more and I needed someone who would fight and hold the ball up, like Amauri.

"Trezeguet touched the ball six times in the first half and six in the second, which included a great assist and a header. When I saw we couldn’t get round Chelsea any more, I introduced Amauri, who is Juve’s top scorer.

"I let Trezeguet play for 80 minutes in the most important game of the season. I’ve always held him in high esteem, but maybe he didn’t do the same for me.

"I haven't spoken to David about this. If he talks to me via the media then I will respond to him in the same way."
