Christian Abbiati could be out for the rest of the season after sustaining a probably rupture of the ligaments in his right knee during AC Milan's 5-1 away win at Siena.

The goalkeeper was stretchered off in the 11th minute of the match following an accidental collision with teammate Giuseppe Favalli.

More tests are needed to confirm the initial diagnosis, but Rossoneri medical staff suspect Abbiati has ruptured the ligaments in his right knee.

According to Channel4, the 31-year-old will undergo an operation on his right knee tomorrow and will be sidelined for around six months.

Dida came on as Abbiati's replacement during the match, and it looks like the Brazilian will remain in goal for the remaining ten games of the campaign.
