Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer wants a coach who is "somewhere in the class of Guus Hiddink" to replace Jürgen Klinsmann.

The Bavarians are searching for a new coach after sacking Klinsmann on Monday following an inconsistent run of results.

Jupp Heynckes has been named as coach on an interim basis until the end of the season but they will be looking to bring in a more high-profile name in the summer.

And Beckenbauer has hinted that he would like that man to be Hiddink, although he accepts it would be very difficult to convince the Russia and Chelsea boss to join them.

"We are in need of an experienced seafarer like Jupp Heynckes," Der Kaiser told Bild.

"I hope we can get a coach who is somewhere in the class of Guus Hiddink."

Ex-Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, former Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini and the out-of-work Frank Rijkaard and Bernd Schuster are also in the frame.
