Barcelona remain on course to become the first Spanish club to win three trophies in a season after crushing Athletic Bilbao 4-1 at the Mestalla for their record 25th Copa del Rey title.

The La Liga title could soon follow, with only one point needed at Real Mallorca on Sunday, while the Champions League final will be contested against Manchester United on May 27.

Gaizka Toquero had given Bilbao a shock lead in the early in the first half, heading in Francisco Yeste's corner past José Manuel Pinto at the far post.

Yaya Touré equalised on 32 minutes following an individual run from inside the Bilbao half.

The Catalans went ahead in the 54th minute when Lionel Messi seized on the rebound from Samuel Eto'o's shot inside the area before firing past the scrambling defense.

Messi then set up Bojan Krkić three minutes later to slide a low shot past Gorka Iraizoz off the inside of the far post.

Xavi then curled in a free-kick in the 64th minute to seal the comfortable victory.
