Premier League: Man United 2-2 Sunderland

Sunday, October 4, 2009

Anton Ferdinand's dramatic own goal earned Manchester United a late 2-2 draw at home to Sunderland.

Darren Bent gave the Black Cats a shock lead after just seven minutes but Dimitar Berbatov drew United level on 51 minutes with an acrobatic volley inside the area.

But Ben Foster then gifted Sunderland the lead straight back as he flapped at an Andy Reid cross to allow Kenwyne Jones a scruffy goal.

Sunderland were reduced to ten men when former United player Kieran Richardson was sent off five minutes from time for kicking the ball away and earning a second yellow card.

The visitors looked be heading for a famous win until Ferdinand inexplicably tried to block Patrice Evra's wayward shot in the third minute of injury time only to see it fly into his own net.
