Premier League: Bolton 3-1 West Ham

Wednesday, December 16, 2009

Bolton Wanderers lifted themselves out of the drop zone with a 3-1 victory over fellow strugglers West Ham at the Reebok Stadium.

After a goalless first period, the Trotters took the lead on 64 minutes when Lee Chung-Yong swapped passes with Ivan Klasnić before clipping the ball over the advancing Robert Green.

But the Hammers were level five minutes later as Alessandro Diamanti hit a great strike after Jack Collison had flicked on Guillermo Franco's cross.

Bolton, though, regained the lead as England keeper Green could not hold an easy catch from Gary Cahill's bouncing effort and Klasnić slotted home from close range on 77 minutes.

The hosts then wrapped up the points with two minutes remaining as leading scorer Cahill headed Ricardo Gardner's back-post corner.
