Athletic Bilbao cruised to a 4-1 victory over 10-man Tenerife to keep themselves in the mix for European qualification.
The visitors failed to recover after José Antonio Culebras was red-carded in the 17th minute for an ugly challenge on Gaizka Toquero in the penalty area.
Fernando Llorente dispatched the resulting spot-kick and Toquero half-volleyed past goalkeeper Sergio Aragoneses five minutes later to make it 2-0.
Andoni Iraola got the third after the break before Tenerife pulled a goal back five minutes later through Alejandro Alfaro's rifle of a shot.
But Igor Gabilondo completed the easy victory at the San Mames in the 63rd minute with a volley into the top corner.
