Tuesday, September 28, 2010

David de Gea insists he is fully focused on Atlético Madrid amid reports linking him with Premier League giants Manchester United.

De Gea only emerged as a regular first-team player at Los Rojiblancos midway through last season, but the teenage keeper quickly became a mainstay in a side which tasted Europa League glory.

His rise to prominence has not gone unnoticed by some of the world's biggest clubs, with United and Spanish giants Barcelona are reported to be among those monitoring the 19-year-old.

De Gea is aware that speculation regarding his future is mounting, but the Spain U-21 international is is in no rush to leave the Vicente Calderón.

He told Radio MARCA: "The important thing is that I have a contract here and I'm an Atlético player until 2013. That's what matters.

"The truth is that everything is turning out well here, and I'm with my family and my friends, which is what I need. I think that is very important.

"I have a contract until 2013, and when the year is out we'll see if things are going well, and those who have to talk (about an extension) will talk."
