Premier League: Man City 5-0 Sunderland

Table of Contents
Manchester City moved up to third in the Premier League with a 5-0 demolition of a freefalling Sunderland at Eastlands.

Adam Johnson's well-worked goal after nine minutes and a Carlos Tévez penalty, following a clumsy foul on the Argentine by Phil Bardsley, six minutes later set the comfortable tone at an early stage for the home side.

David Silva poked home a close-range finish in the 63rd minute before Patrick Vieira, just seconds after entering the match as a substitute, slid home a cross by Aleksandar Kolarov on 68 minutes to make it 4-0.

Yaya Touré completed the rout with 17 minutes to go by jumping on a crazy crossfield pass by Lee Cattermole and clipping a neat finish past Simon Mignolet.
