Manchester City moved seven points clear of Liverpool in the race to finish fourth in the Premier League after seeing off rock-bottom West Ham 2-1 at Eastlands.
City were 2-0 up within the opening 15 minutes with Nigel de Jong firing home his first goal for the club and Pablo Zabaleta seeing his shot turned into his own net by Lars Jacobsen.
West Ham pulled a goal back on 33 minutes through Demba Ba, but it was the hosts who looked more likely to score another after the break and deservedly made off with all three points.
