Barcelona lurched to a much-needed 3-1 win over lowly Sporting Gijón at the Camp Nou despite the absence of suspended star Lionel Messi.
Andrés Iniesta appeared to put Barcelona in firm control with his goal a minute before halftime, but Gerard Piqué's red card early in the second half led to Sporting leveling through David Barral's 49th-minute goal.
Despite being at a numerical disadvantage, Seydou Keita fired Barcelona ahead in the 79th minute before Xavi capped the victory three minutes from time.
