A solitary strike from Nicklas Bendtner was enough to give Sunderland a 1-0 win over Liverpool in a forgettable contest at the Stadium of Light.
After a largely forgettable first half, Sunderland made the breakthrough on 56 minutes when Bendtner bundled home from close range after a low drive from Fraizer Campbell cannoned off the base of the post and into the back of Pepe Reina.
