Another Serie B player collapsed during a match on Saturday, just a week after Piermario Morosini died while in action for Livorno against Pescara.
Nocerina defender Marco Pomante fell to the ground with no one around him two minutes into the second half of his side's 4-0 defeat by Reggina.
Nearby players immediately notified the referee and physios, who tended to the centre-back.
Following treatment, he was stretchered from the pitch and taken to hospital.
However, after being examined at Nocera Inferiore's San Francesco hospital, he was later discharged.
Reports from the hospital suggest Pomante took a knock to the throat a few minutes earlier and subsequently had some difficulty breathing with symptoms of whiplash, but is not in danger.
"When he fell we were worried, but then we realised that it wasn't anything serious," Nocerina press officer Giuseppe Sicignano told ANSA.
