At just 1.75 m and 82 kg, the 29-year-old point guard has lasted eight NBA seasons and counting.

Throughout his career, he has opted for single digits, using Nos 2, 3, and 4 at various stops in New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and Chicago Bulls.

With his preferred No 2 retired by the Nuggets in honour of Alex English, Robinson has decided to go in a different direction.

In an interview with Denver Stiffs, Robinson explained: "I usually dig the single digit numbers, but No 2 is retired.

"I'm going to change it up and wear No 10. I'm going to wear it for Messi, that's my favorite soccer player.

"I've been playing a lot of FIFA lately and watching the games. He's the best little guy to do it and I've got to be the best little guy to do it at No 10 in the NBA. That's my goal."

Listed at 1.69 m, Barcelona and Argentina superstar Messi is only 6 cm shorter than Robinson.
