Javi Lara scored a sublime free-kick to give Eibar a historic 1-0 win over neighbours Real Sociedad in their first top flight match in the club's 74-year history.
A crowd of just under 6,000 packed into the Ipurua Municipal Stadium to witness their first ever La Liga game and their supporters certainly didn't leave disappointed.
The newly-promoted side produced an intense first-half performance and had their more established top-flight opponents on the ropes from the off.
With the game heading towards half-time goalless, Lara produced a moment of magic to break the deadlock.
After an Abraham cross was blocked by Carlos Martínez's arm, Eibar were given a free-kick just a few yards from the byline.
Lara stepped up and caught everyone by surprise by going for goal from a tremendously difficult angle, sending the ball straight into the net in off the far post.
The visitors improved in the second half but they could not turn their late pressure into goals.
