Allan Saint-Maximin leaves Club América after racist incident involving his children
Allan Saint-Maximin has left Club América by mutual consent after revealing his children were victims of a racist incident - a development that brought his short spell in Liga MX to a sudden and emotional end.

The 28-year-old French winger confirmed the situation in a powerful message shared on Instagram, making clear that whilst he can handle criticism himself, attacks on his family crossed a line he could not accept.
The problem is not skin colour, it's the colour of people's thoughts.

People attack me, but that's not a problem. I've grown up and learned to fight back against attacks, whether they're subtle, hidden or direct. But there’s one thing I will never tolerate, and that's people attacking my children.

Family comes first

The former Newcastle United winger said protecting his children was his top priority.
Protecting my children is my priority, and I will fight with all my strength to ensure that they are respected and loved, regardless of their origins or skin colour. Hatred and discrimination have no place in our society.

I want people to understand that every human being is unique and precious, and that we must treat each other with respect and dignity.

I want my children to grow up in a world where they can be themselves and where they do not have to endure absurd and meaningless behaviour that serves only to destroy and divide.
Whilst the player did not disclose full details of the alleged incident, his post quickly gained widespread attention and support across the football community.

Sources indicated he personally requested to leave the club in the aftermath, amid growing doubts about continuing his career in Mexico.

Club América show solidarity

América confirmed his departure shortly after a 2-0 win over Club Necaxa, publicly wishing him well for the future.

Players walked onto the pitch before that match holding a banner reading "NO TO RACISM," a visible show of solidarity with their team-mate.

In an official statement, the club said:
We reiterate our strong condemnation of any act of discrimination and/or violence that violates human dignity, both on and off the field.

We express our absolute solidarity with Allan Saint-Maximin and his family, who have the support of everyone who is part of this institution.
Head coach André Jardine described the situation as a "real shame," praising the winger's quality and professionalism.

A brief but eventful spell in Mexico

Saint-Maximin joined América on a two-year deal in the summer after time with Al-Ahli, following his well-known stint at Newcastle.

His time in Mexico proved short but impactful:
  • 15 appearances
  • 3 goals
  • 3 assists
Despite flashes of his trademark flair, his stay in Liga MX ended far sooner than expected.

América's league position

Just four games into the new Liga MX Clausura phase, América sit ninth in the table with one win.

During the Apertura stage, they had finished fourth after a strong campaign.

For Saint-Maximin, attention now turns to his next move.

The winger is a free agent and is expected to take time with his family before deciding his future, with football firmly secondary to ensuring their wellbeing after a deeply personal ordeal.
