A last minute goal from Brazilian striker Amauri saw Juventus snatch a dramatic 2-1 win at struggling Lecce to remain just six points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan.

Sebastian Giovinco, who was making only his third league start of the season, opened the scoring on 57 minutes as he curled a free kick from the edge of the box to leave goalkeeper Francesco Benussi with no chance.

With 11 minutes remaining, Lecce wasted an excellent opportunity to equalize when Jose Castillo headed over from in front of an open goal.

Four minutes later, Lecce were level, however, when substitute Daniele Cacia volleyed a neat left-footed effort past Alex Manninger.

But it was Amauri who had the last word as the former Palermo hitman headed home Paolo de Ceglie's cross a minute from time to secure a last-gasp victory for Claudio Ranieri's men.

Juve is now second in the table, level on 30 points with AC Milan.

AC Milan are also six points off leaders Inter Milan after an unimpressive 1-0 win over Catania.

In the absence of Ronaldinho, the home side were frustrated by tenacious opponents and their own inability to finish off the many opportunities they created.

Milan, which meets Juventus in Turin next weekend, nearly fell behind when Giuseppe Mascara shot against the inside of the post from 20 yards out.

Brazilian superstar Kaká grabbed the only goal of the match in the 65th minute as his header from Alexandre Pato's corner took a deflection off Lorenzo Stovini to beat goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri.

Mascara had another golden opportunity 15 minutes from time which Christian Abbiati had to push wide his free header to preserve all three points.
