David Villa rejects Premier League move

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Jose Luis Tamargo, the representative of David Villa, has confirmed his client is unlikely to be coming to England.

The Valencia striker was hot property in the summer after firing Spain to Euro 2008 glory and has since been a target for a host of clubs.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been tracking him, but it is big-spending Manchester City who looked to use their new financial muscle to sign him.

However, Tamargo insists the Spain international does not want to move to England and he would have no interest in joining City.

"David has rejected the chance to play in England," he told The Mirror.

"It would be a nonsense to negotiate with Manchester City and Chelsea aren't interested.

"If Valencia do decide to sell him he wants to stay in Spain."
