William Gallas scored a late disputed goal for Arsenal to secure a 2-1 win over Hull and into the FA Cup semifinals.

Nick Barmby fired Hull in front after 13 minutes when his angled shot deflected off Johan Djourou and looped in over Łukasz Fabiański.

The Gunners, having conceded just two goals in their previous 10 matches, nearly let in another within 10 minutes as Barmby turned in Andy Dawson’s low shot at the far post, but his effort was canceled for being offside.

Arsenal came out stronger in the second half as Robin van Persie’s header was cleared off the line by Dawson and Alex Song hooked the loose ball wide.

Hull were now clinging on by their fingertips as another van Persie header hit the top of the bar with Boaz Myhill beaten.

The equaliser finally came on 74 minutes when substitute Nicklas Bendtner stumbled through and rolled the ball to Andrei Arshavin, who unselfishly squared the ball for van Persie to level.

The home side grabbed the winner six minutes from time with a controversial effort from Gallas. The Frenchman appeared to be in an offside position when he nodded home into the empty net after Djourou had beaten Myhill to Samir Nasri’s free-kick.
