Real Madrid produced one of the most remarkable comebacks in their recent history by twice coming from behind to defeat lowly Getafe 3-2 in injury-time.

Roberto Soldado put the visitors ahead in the tenth minute as he got on the end of a cross from another former Real player, Esteban Granero, to head past Iker Casillas.

The hosts equalised on the stroke of half-time when Gonzalo Higuaín muscled aside Cata Díaz before rounding Vladimir Stojković and slotting home.

Substitute Juan Albín put Getafe back into the lead with a fine first-time finish, and with only six minutes remaining he looked like had won it for the visitors.

However, the home side managed to get themselves back on level terms just two minutes later when Guti curled a brilliant free-kick into the top corner.

Real's joy turned to despair a minute later though when Javier Casquero broke through on goal and went tumbling under Pepe's challenge.

A furious Pepe was then shown a red card for a series of aggressive actions.

But there was to be another twist as Casquero's poor spot-kick was easily saved by Casillas and gave Real an unexpected chance to snatch the win.

Higuaín ran into the area three minutes into injury time and fired a brilliant 20-yard finish to send the Bernabéu wild.
