Serie A leaders Inter Milan crashed to an unexpected 1-0 defeat to Napoli at Stadio San Paolo.

Inter was outmuscled by a more determined Napoli side, who won their first match since January and the first since ex-Italy coach Roberto Donadoni took over in February.

However, the visitors almost went ahead when a free-kick was awarded for a foul by Matteo Contini on Mario Balotelli. Zlatan Ibrahimović sent in a shot on target, but Navarro blocked at his right-hand post.

Then the hosts took a surprise lead when Marcelo Zalayeta beat Inter goalkeeper Júlio César with a first-time shot from the edge of the box after 73 minutes

José Mourinho's men could not find an equaliser and Napoli hung on for a shock victory.

AC Milan strengthened their grip on second spot with a comfortable 3-0 win over 10-man Palermo at the San Siro.

Milan opened the scoring on 10 minutes after Palermo defender Mattia Cassani fouled midfielder Massimo Ambrosini in the area and Kaká stepped up to lash home the penalty.

The hosts doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Filippo Inzaghi headed in an Ambrosini cross from close range to score his 150th Serie A goal.

Palermo's cause then became virtually impossible three minutes into the second half when Cesare Bovo was sent off for a foul on Kaká.

Shortly afterward, Federico Balzaretti held back Kaká in the area and the Brazilian got up to score with his second spot-kick of the match.

Milan almost capped a good day with a spectacular goal four minutes from time when a clever one-two between Kaká and Ronaldinho resulted in the latter flicking the ball into the area to Gianluca Zambrotta who dribbled past three defenders before unleashing a shot but substitute goalkeeper Samir Ujkani did well to save.

Juventus' winless run was stretched to four games as they were held to a 2-2 draw at rock-bottom Reggina.

The Bianconeri found themselves behind in the 27th minute when defender Antonino Barilla was left unmarked to head home midfielder Daniel Adejo's cross.

Alessandro Del Piero leveled from the spot three minutes into the second half after Vincenzo Iaquinta had been fouled by Adejo.

Midfielder Emil Hallfreðsson put the home side in the lead again on 69 minutes when he scored from long range.

The hosts could not hold out for the win, though, as Cristiano Zanetti equalised four minutes later after the ball came to him in the box.
