Pavel Nedvěd officially retires from football

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Pavel Nedvěd has officially ended his career as a footballer when he announced on his website that he will accept no offer made to him.

The Czech veteran, who turns 37 on August 30, ended his time at Juventus when the club did not renew his contract this summer and hinted he was not finished with football quite yet.

He had been linked with a continuation of his Serie A career at Inter Milan and Lazio, while Sven-Goran Eriksson wanted him at Notts County.

"I have decided not to accept any of the offers that have reached me in the last few weeks and to put an end to my career," read a statement on Nedvěd’s official website, www.pavelnedved.cz.

"I just want to dedicate all my time to my family, my wife and my children.

"I would like to thank the fans for all the support they showed me throughout my career."
